About Us

Start Healing Together
is a group comprised of staff members from a high school in Southern NJ. Some members have personally experienced infertility or pregnancy loss, which has impacted their personal relationships, and others simply want to offer their support. Regardless, our members are meant to serve as liaisons for whomever needs support: parents, grandparents, friends, family members, coworkers, etc.

The group was founded by Jackie Mancinelli, a high school teacher. She and her husband suffered a miscarriage in 2014 and then lost their son in 2016 after an emergency delivery. They now have two "rainbow" daughters. Part of Jackie's grieving process focuses on finding a way to honor her son in a way that helps other loss families. She is a member of a parent panel at Virtua Hospital, and she works closely with their perinatal bereavement program. She is extending her advocacy work to her school community in the hopes of supporting others while helping to break the stigma surrounding loss.

The hope is that Start Healing Together will extend beyond just this one high school. We would like to have chapters in schools across the U.S. If you are interested in starting a chapter at your school, contact Jackie Mancinelli at jackie@starthealingtogether.com.
